Recent Updates - The Folk Show
Hastings (well, St Leonard's if we're talking actual physical location...) was graced by the mighty Skinny Lister on the 11th. Not quite the sweatiest gig I've ever been to, but it was close! The group were absolutely phenomenal though, and I was delighted to finally get into a gap with no tall people blocking the view just as they began playing Trouble on Oxford Street. What a banger!
I've come away from the gig with 4 of thier albums which will definitely get a spin on a future folk show.
It's worth mentioning the support act, Samantics, too. He wouldn't be playable on Hastings Rock, but if you're into the idea of very clever and often funny rap accompanied by layered loop pedals and ukulele, he's your guy! I thought he was brilliant and well worth a listen!
The most local 'music store' to me barely qualifies as such these days, but I occasionally pop in to see if any albums I don't own are in. I was thinking along the lines of Lindemann, The Hu... Nothing I would consider outrageously niche but alas no luck there. I did however, and to my shock, find a Lindsey Stirling album! I definitely didn't expect that and obviously snapped it up right away. Will be giving it a thorough listen and will of course bring anything that works for the show along for you to all discover too!
Despite the tech gremlins, roadworks, and lack of time working against this installment of the show, I nevertheless managed to get something out alongside Old Town Carnival Week! So here you can find the link to the mixcloud upload and of course, the playlist:

Afternoon all!
Apologies for the mega short notice, I couldn't guarantee I'd get a chance to record anything for this 'ere Carnival week as it's proven to be pretty busy.
However I have just about managed it! Wednesday 5th, 6pm - 8pm will be the Carnival special of The Folk Show, featuring folk style songs from both TV and Film, to fit the Carnival theme of 100 years of television. It hasn't been an easy theme, but hopefully if you aren't out gallivanting for Old Town Pram Race, you'll be indoors enjoying the show.
Catch you soon!
I hope you all enjoyed your time aboard the Folk Show pirate ship! Here's a playlist for all my crew:

With the conclusion of the Faun album play-through on the last show, it's time to announce your next module of music education! I'm going to be playing two songs a show from the album Through Shaded Woods by Lunatic Soul. Yes. That's right, prog, on The Folk Show! It's an album I love dearly and is imbued very much with the spirit of folk, making it right at home on my show. I'll be playing the full deluxe edition, and you can start by hearing the first two tracks in the next show, between 6pm - 8pm, Friday 17th of April.I hope you'll all be there to join me!
