Happy Birthday Jimmy Vaughan
Couple of days late, I’d like to wish Jimmy Vaughan a very happy 75th birthday on behalf of HRR..
Jimmy Vaughan is one of my all time favourite guitarist, I’m a huge fan of his traditional style and approach to the Blues.
Born 20th March 1951, Jimmy Vaughan is the older brother of Steve Ray Vaughan, and a founding member of The Fabulous Thunderbirds, and performed and recorded with the band from 1979 until 1990, when he left to pursue a very successful solo career.
He has received four Grammys & was awarded Traditional Male Blues Artist Of The Year in 2020.
To celebrate his 75th there will be some classic Jimmy Vaughan on my next show, which airs on Friday 3rd April

Oscars Blues
Evening everyone..
At last night’s Oscar ceremony the Movie “Sinners” was up for a few awards, if you’ve not seen it’s set in the Mississippi Delta in the 1930’s and it follows two brothers who return to their hometown of Clarksdale to open up a Juke Joint, I won’t tell you any more as I don’t want to spoil the film for you, as you can imagine the soundtrack for the film is an absolute delight for Blues fans, anyway back to the Oscars, one of the musical segments celebrated this movie star of the film Miles Caton & singer songwriter Raphael Saadiq were joined on stage by some Blues Greats, such as Bobby Rush, Christone Kingfish Ingram, Eric Gales and the legendary Buddy Guy, who also makes a cameo appearance in the film.

Crossroads at 40
Good Morning Blues Lovers…
In true Blues fashion “I Woke Up This Morning” to discover that the 1986 film Crossroads was released 40 years ago today, and I couldn’t let this pass without a mention..
If you’ve not seen it, it’s an American musical drama inspired by the legend of Robert Johnson, it follows a young guitar protege (played by Ralph Macchio) who teams up with a veteran Harmonica player who he hopes will teach him a long lost song by Robert Johnson.
The music for the film is composed by the great Ry Cooder, and there is a cameo appearance by Steve Via.
Loved this film when it came out, I even went to the cinema to see it HAHA, if you have seen it, it’s definitely worth checking out, hopefully it’s on a streaming platform somewhere 🎸
